30 MINUTE CHILI RECIPE

There’s nothing better than next day chili. It doesn’t matter if you cook your chili for hours or dedicate a little time to throw all the ingredients together. The fact is, chili will always taste its best when it’s had time to marinate in the fridge overnight. This 30 min chili recipe is going to be a good one to add in your meal plans moving forward and it has personally been a life saver for my busy life. You don’t need a slow cooker or anything fancy to make this recipe. All you need is your fave chili ingredients and 30 minutes of your time.

CHILI INGREDIENTS

My chili recipe happens to be mostly organic and budget friendly. All the ingredients you can find at Costco (except the seasoning pack) and since you’re buying in bulk, this will cost little to nothing to throw together.

This is the perfect dish for anyone who wants a healthy hearty meal that’s also low in cost and pantry friendly. You’ll probably already have most of the ingredients on hand. This will make about 6 small servings or 4 big servings depending on your bowl size and how many times you go back for more.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1/2 pack KS organic ground beef
  • 1 pack of chili seasoning
  • 1 can organic tomato sauce
  • 1 can organic diced tomatoes
  • 1/3 can of water (poured into tomato sauce can)
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can red kidney beans
  • avocado oil

HOW TO MAKE 30 MIN CHILI

To make our 30 minute chili, I recommend having all your ingredients laid out in front of you first. This is one of those things that helps make the process 30 minutes from start to finish. So, you’ll want to shop your pantry and fridge to grab what you need. Don’t be afraid to get creative and use what you have before running out to grab more ingredients. This is a budget friendly meal after all.

Let’s make some chili!

  1. First up, you’ll want to add some oil to your pot. I love using avocado oil for this recipe because it’s my favourite cooking oil. Once the oil is hot on medium heat, add your organic ground beef to the pot and start browning the meat. This step literally takes under 10 minutes.
  2. Next, you can start adding your chili seasoning. I know some people like to make their chili seasoning from scratch, but since I’m always in a rush to get dinner ready, I like to have the seasoning packs on hand for meals like this. It just makes it so much easier!
  3. When the seasoning is well combined with the meat and you can start to smell the chili flavours coming together, start adding your canned ingredients. By now, we are at the 15 minute mark. This is a good time to mix in all the remaining ingredients together to make sure everything is well combined.
  4. Cover the pot, turn down your stove to low and let this simmer for the remaining 15 minutes. Don’t forget to set a timer and turn off the stove when the 15 minutes is up. I like to give the chili a little stir halfway through the simmer to ensure nothing burns at the bottom.

You’re almost ready to enjoy your chili!

THE BEST WAY TO HAVE CHILI

I know there’s a ton of recipes out there that say the longer you cook your chili, the better it’ll be. And although that might be true, it doesn’t help busy moms who forget to plan hours in advance.

That’s why I think nothing comes close to next day chili. Make this 30 minute meal and store in it your fridge to enjoy the next day or meal prep and save some for the freezer to have a hearty meal in no time.

Your future self will thank you and no one will ever know it only took you 30 minutes!

SERVING YOUR CHILI

I like to top my chili with cheese. In my opinion, any cheddar blend will work great. I’m using the Kirkland Signature tex mex shredded cheese. If I have avocado or sour cream, I’ll add a little on top as well. Honestly, you can top your bowl of chili with whatever ingredients you prefer.

THE PERFECT SIDE FOR YOUR CHILI

Some people may argue that chili is better when you pair it with something else. Although, you can have it alone and be content, I prefer to have it with a side to round out the meal and make it more wholesome than it already is. This also helps stretch how much of the chili you’ll have at one sitting.

The best side for my chili recipe is hands down homemade cornbread. The mix of the hearty chili with a bite of sweet buttery goodness will leave you full and satisfied. If you make this correctly, you’ll literally think you ordered takeout from one of your favourite restaurants except the restaurant is your kitchen and you’re the chef. Not to mention it’ll only cost a fraction of the cost of takeout or delivery. Chili is one of those meals that is super easy to put together and I encourage you to make it yourself moving forward. Plus, I actually enjoy it homemade way more vs from anywhere else.
